Since then ATLAS/MAXTER, has designed innovative equipment which have solved problems for Mining & Construction Companies. Some of these successes include:

BOTTOM DUMP EARTHWAGONS

Maxter has been one of the main suppliers of Bottom Dump Earthwagons since 1973. We have produced trailers in capacities from 35 tons (31 tonnes) to 160 tons (146 tonnes).

Most major construction companies in North and South America have used these haulers extensively. They have been utilized to build some of the largest hydroelectric dams in the world. Maxter trailer trains have seen service in varied conditions, ranging from the hauling of materials to build gravel islands on the north coast of Alaska to the construction of major airports around the United States.

Some major features of bottom dump earth wagons include:

  • Earth wagons dump while in motion thus spreading the load in a uniform manner and at the same time decrease haul cycle times.
  • Earth wagons can haul up to double the payload the prime mover would normally carry on its back.
  • Rugged gooseneck design fits four way yoke type hitch thus reducing stresses on the truck chassis.
  • Rear arched axle design minimizes drag caused by "grading" of the windrow.
  • "Quick-dump" doors with fail safe hydraulic system assures constant dump control.

END DUMP TRAILERS

End/Rear dump trailers are especially effective for longer hauls (typically one mile or longer).

Major Advantages:

  • Better tire load distribution resulting in significant increase in tire life.
  • Existing fleets can be upgraded without incurring the major cost of a larger sized prime mover.
  • Significant savings in fuel, maintenance and operating costs.
  • Short turning radius- highly maneuverable.
  • Rugged draft arms and draw bar provide both the point of attachment to the tractor and stability when dumping.
  • Oil cooled multiple disc brakes on all models from 65 tons and up.
  • Twin, inverted, chromed dump cylinders tip the body at a very high dump angle thus shedding the material in an efficient manner.

COAL HAULERS

Maxter has been actively building coal haulers for more than 25 years. Since 1990, a concentrated effort has been made to improve and upgrade the coal hauler designs. The double hull was introduced in 1995 followed by a comprehensive overall design upgrade, which was introduced in 1999.

Key Features and Major Improvements:

  • Double hull design adds rigidity and strength to the sidewalls of the trailer thus diminishing denting on the corrugated exterior walls of the unit.
  • Curved corners combined with steeper inner slopes allow for a cleaner and freer discharge thus minimizing carryback.
  • The MAXTER hitch mounted "integrated" turnstop eliminates the need for a tractor mounted "goalpost" style of turnstop. This feature increases driver safety and reduces damage in Jackknife situations.
  • Recent improvements to the braking system have been made through the introduction of a new control system, which allows the operator to monitor all levels of brake performance.
  • Optional door open/closed indicator.
  • Maxter’s enclosed plumbing system protects against outside elements, while allowing easy access for maintenance.

SIDE DUMP TRAILERS

As a HAULER Side Dump Trailers are often overlooked. In many applications they should be considered as the ideal ore and material mover rather than an option.

Low center of gravity, easily loaded by all loading tools, and their ability to approach the dumping site without time consuming maneuvering make them more productive.

  • Operation: Chrome plated hydraulic cylinders tilt the Body to unload. This action automatically lowers one side…allowing the drop-side to act as a chute…directing the contents into the hopper, over a cliff, or away from soft ground etc.

After discharging, the body returns to the frame, automatically returning the side to its position.

Key features:

  • Low profile allows for easy fast loading;
  • Low center of gravity during travel;
  • Increased stability when dumping. The narrower body results in a lower center of gravity during it’s dump cycle;
  • Eliminates the time to maneuver the vehicle to discharge.

APPLICATIONS

  • Breakwaters, Tunnels, Causeways, Dam Building, Dumping over a cliff.

AUTOMATIC TAILGATES

Building upon the foundation of Atlas automatic elevating tailgates used in the on-highway dump body Industry, this product has seen continuous improvement. Since 1970, numerous Atlas elevating tailgates have been put into service, ranging from 25 ton articulated vehicles through the largest off highway vehicles built.

Key Features and Advantages:

  • The elevating tailgate permits full loading of the vehicle, assuring better weight distribution, since the load can be more easily placed.
  • Tailgates can dramatically reduce material spillage particularly while climbing grades, thus keeping haul roads clean and free of debris. This can prevent tire damage and premature replacement.
  • Tailgates increase payload capacity.
  • Ease of field installation.
  • Can be fitted to all truck models.
  • Heavy duty, double plated box section side arms.

For instance, an 85 to 100 (76 to 91 M/t) truck, when converted into a Tractor with can haul 160 tons (146 M/t) paylods. (Dependent on the Haul Profile)
